out of the frying pan and into the freezer

Well, chill the vodka. Moscow it is.

At first we were shocked, in spite of it being number two on our bid list. "How did it end up as number two on our list?" Peter asks me. We can’t stop talking about ballet and salmon and sturgeon and snow and mushrooms and palaces and walks in the forest. Camille is campaigning hard for the Anglo-American school, Stefan says he doesn’t want to go to school at all.

Hi guys, How very exciting. Of course we wanted Tokyo, but you’re getting warmer, um, colder, but warmer. At least this is a direct flight, and a little more possible.
    When do you move?
    Ciao, Clay

Will you be living on the US Embassy compound? Have you been a US-style house/neighborhood in Africa? The US Embassy is quite nice. It can get a little too close for comfort, though… Camille might actually enjoy being at the lycee instead of at AAS. You’re with your classmates for the whole commute, at school, and then you basically live with them… That being said, if you make a good friend, that would be divine! The International School on Krilatskoe is also excellent. Will you be coming for a “look see” before actually moving? When do you get here?
I see how much you enjoy literature; you’ll have a couple nice book clubs to choose from 🙂
I also saw in your doll posting that you’re in the AWO there. The AWO is strong here, too. I personally preferred doing stuff with the French women because they were a more diverse bunch and they have a general attitude of, “Wow! Let’s learn all we can about this country/language and get everything we can out of this experience!” as opposed to the “Life is so hard here/we’re just getting through it until we can get back to America or somewhere better than here” attitude that many (but certainly not all!!!!!!!) of the American women I’ve met here seem to have.
