Oh–I realize I had never answered you about coats. You could get a stylish leather coat here if you want to blend in until it’s really cold. Then you might want to just buy a true winter coat there–if you want to be fashionable (a line sheepskin, leather or fur coat). Or you can get a nice down coat from here and you’ll be just fine, too. I personally have a magenta down long coat from Lands End.
For the kids, I’d recommend just getting stuff from Lands End or LLBean. You can also buy stuff at the Columbia store in Moscow–it’s just more expensive.
