For two years, in San Francisco, I proudly carried a purse that I found in the trash. And I got compliments on it.

I used to slap the children’s hands when they picked up $10 salad-in-bag packages. Now I blithely toss them into my cart.

I have to say I’ve never “got” the big deal about bags. I’d rather buy a plane ticket with the extra grand.

I am going to speak for the animals here. Am not saying people shouldn’t have fur to keep them warm but just like eating meat, we should be aware of how that animal lived and was killed before its fur or meat is harvested. As for killing animals so you can wear their tails on your wrist, I would put up with cold wrists. Maybe I sound preachy but I think we should think of the quality of life for all living things; not just pandas and whales. China sells fur to Russia and they have no regulations on how they raise or kill their animals. Some animals are still alive when being skinned.
