the view from portland

I visited my friend Elizabeth at her office at Hanna Andersson today and we were both wearing the same outfit, it was so funny. Jeans, blue and white striped shirts with ruffles, a black sweater tossed over. I saw Raemi, who I use to see everyday at work, it was so wonderful to see her face. “Have you been having fun at Anthropolgie?” she asked. “No! Goodwill!” I said. Oh, it’s so soothing to see our friends.

The Willamette Weekly has the funniest article kvetching about Portland. It’s really a love letter, everything he complains about I L-O-V-E: the tall bikes, the overly-polite drivers, the bumper stickers, all the pretty people at New Seasons, the edemame. The article is so funny, beware of reading it in a public place, like the most Portland thing I’ve ever heard of, the vegan bar at the Pirate Tavern.

I forwarded the kvetching article to my pals Dick and Wendy (I think you met them?) because they are moving to Portland–like right now! They’ll be out of Arlington before me! In Pacific Grove things are looking “cautiously optimistic.” ;-D

Did you know that the Simpson’s Springfield was modled after Portland the creator’s home town. It all makes sense.

In theory Portland should be the city for me; micro brews and bicycles, enough said.

First, Dina, I have to know about those yellow shoes. Who makes them, and where did you get them? They are to die for! 😀
What a fun article about PDX. We miss it a lot. We used to live just a couple blocks from the Alberta St. Clown House so we saw the tall bikes a LOT. Griffen was back there for a week this summer to visit his aunt and got to see some of the boys. I hope you’re having fun there — remember to pack some cool northwest air for when you’re back in Niger. (And we think Dallas is hot…)

Bet that was agreat time to be back at your old job and seeing all your friends. You got to so a lot of things while on your own.
You miss the family when they are gone. but you can do all the things you want to do and not worry about them. Peter said they were angels at Shasta.
