Sunday was an “international” riding event, meaning people came from Burkina for a jumping competition. Camille and her friends are happiest at the equestrian center. Also she has so much freedom, I wonder if she will miss it after we leave Niger? Now she goes to the equestrian center twice a week for lessons, she goes an hour early, just to get the horses ready, and on Saturday she goes all afternoon for games. The birds in the trees, the smell of the horses, her nice riding instructor, Hassan who says ça va, ça va a million times; sweet moments.

I think everything will be very different in Moscow. Will have to be very careful what I say on my e-mails. Hope your life will be as great in Russia as it is there in Africa. Will Camille have a chance to ride horses in Moscow?

Hi Dina:
i emailed you not long ago and the email came back? have you moved? New email address?
Saw on the comment blog that you’re going to Russia? Wonderful.
We lived there from 92-94. Greatest tour we had….beautiful culture…and lots and lots to see and do in that big city. Try to make it to St. Pete’s…
Dobre outra!

Horseback riding is such a wonderful activity. It also keeps you in shape and builds enormous self confidence. There’s something so wonderful about being atop such a beautiful, noble beast. I hope Camille can continue riding in Russia. After all, she’s probably part Cossak!

Yes, I’m sure Camille will feel the freedom “crunch” here… But if you’re on the embassy compound, she’ll be free to roam there… As far as riding goes, yes, yes, she can definitely continue it here. It will be quite expensive, though. (Cheaper than near New York City, for example, but certainly way more than in Africa). I’ll ask around and try to get you some leads. You can also post about it at the yahoo group “kidzinmoscow” or at expat.ru.

hi Guys,
How are you!?!
Niger keeps popping up. Graded next to last on the greenest countries scale – next to Ethiopia – wasn’t that your second choice? I worry about you? Russia is MUCH higher on the scale (east of the Caucasus maybe). I don’t know how Japan comes out so well. Hmm. But it’s all relative.
How are my babies?
